Documents and Resources
On the Internet there is a wealth of resources available to the Cisco-certified professional or certification candidate. Here are some that I have found helpful and many of which come from my bookmarks...
Cisco's Internetworking Terms and Acronyms is a great resource for all those weird collections of letters we encounter!
To find a place that lists all of the IOS commands, go to the Cisco IOS Command Summary page. For a shorter, more practical list (related more to CCNA preparation), go to Mehran's Cisco Router CLI page.
Since version 12.0, the routers now run the Cisco IOS File System (IFS), and a whole new set of commands to learn!
Cisco's Password Recovery Procedures page should be every system engineer's bookmark!
Visit Boson for some good free utilities.
Here's a good document if you want to know what the IGRP metrics are and how they work.
3com's excellent has an article entitled Understanding IP Addressing. If you are totally new to IP addressing and subnetting, here's a good IP Address Subnetting Tutorial.
My friend Dale has a list of Protocol Numbers and TCP/UDP Ports.
Google has a nice list of IP-addressing-related web pages.
Anixter's Structured Cabling white paper is excellent!
Check out Cisco's Reference Guide to find out what all those codes mean in the IOS image file name!
