Other Lilligrens

Yes, there are other clans of Lilligrens in this world in addition to those who live New Brighton.  Several have e-mail addresses.  As we receive permission, we will post them here for you.  Here's a few to get you started:

Chuck Lilligren, Sr. - Ham Lake, Minnesota

Chuck Lilligren, III - Blaine, Minnesota

James P. Lilligren - Fresno, California

There are at least two different lines of Lilligrens in this country, who do not appear to be related by anything other than their last name (and their Swedish heritage).  Strange, I know, since it is not really that common of a name!

When Dave's great-grandfather left Sweden, his name was Nels Peter Bengtson. He chose the name Liljengren when he came over to America. Some of his children changed their last name to Lilligren (and some to Liljegren) because it was more phonetic, I guess.  The "j" was never meant to be pronounced anyway (at least that's what I've heard).  Two of Nels' sons, Art and Rudolph, retained the Liljengren spelling.  Leslie, Cele, and Emmert did change theirs to Lilligren.  Leslie Theodore (who went by "Ted") was my grandfather.  Click here to see a photo taken of the Nels Peter's family in the 1920s.

The other line of Lilligrens are descended from Peter Lilligren, who immigrated from Sweden to Stillwater, Minnesota, around 1875.    James, from Fresno, is his oldest living descendant.  You can contact him if you have any questions about Peter descendants.
