Ted Lilligren
My father, Jim T., moved to California during the early ‘70s where he established a medical practice, Turlock Women’s Medical Group (TWMG), in Turlock, California. TWMG has been present for 24 years.
I was born in Fresno, 1973 (26 years young).
My brother Tim was born in Turlock in 1977 (22 years).
My mother’s name is Cynthia and she married my father in 1969 in Minnesota. She is a well-known travel agent who recently sold her agency. One of my mother’s clients is a professional baseball player for the Kansas City Royals. His name is Dan Reichert, THS ‘94.
My mother directed me toward swimming when I was a youth where I became a champion swimmer and water polo player at the high-school level. I received All-American honors in 1990 & 1991 for swimming and water polo. My team and I were awarded a proclamation from the City of Turlock in 1991 for claiming our school’s first San Joaquin section championship in 58 years. I set six team-swimming records, three-league records, one of which was held by a big-screen actor, Timothy Oliphant. His movie credits include "A Life Less Ordinary," "Scream 2," and "Go". I take pride in breaking his 200-freestyle record and consider myself friends of his younger brother Matt, a teammate of mine at Cal. These records still stand today which amazes me since it has almost been ten years.

I partook in water polo at the University of California where the team won the national championship during the years 1990, 1991, and 1992 (32-0). I represented the USA at the Junior World Championships at Cairo, Egypt, in August, 1993. Team USA finished fifth-place overall. Our only losses were to the eventual champs and runner-up, Italy and Spain.
I graduated with a B.A. in history (1999) from Cal-State University Stanislaus.

Note: James P. has a son named Timothy James who shares the same name as my younger brother, Tim. "Big" Tim is twice Tim in Turlock’s age and is a City Council member in Manhattan Beach, California (former mayor).
This is some additional info about us. My father traced our genealogy to Denmark which we visited during the Summer of ‘98. We got to visit and see the family farm in rural Denmark. We also are expecting a Danish cousin to visit the US this Spring.
Some of our cousins are also Swedish. I have determined some ancestors moved from DK to SWE while some moved to the US near the time of the SWE move. We also visited Sweden during our ‘98 trip. We met with relatives.
